Position Summary
This position provides a critical role in linking those in need of emergency assistance or non-emergency service with the most appropriate qualified Public Safety or Facilities resources while assigned to the 24/7/365 Public Safety Command and Control Center (C2C). The CCC Technician will triage all telephone calls, monitor Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Security Systems for alarms, alerts, fluctuations, and emergencies, radio‑dispatch appropriate personnel, and troubleshoot applicable systems for causes and potential remote interventions.

Essential Responsibilities / Duties- Operate, monitor, maintain, and control computerized Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Public Safety systems while responding to life‑safety issues, emergencies, and service requests.
- Triage all incoming telephone calls to obtain necessary information, assess appropriate resources, and assist callers calmly and professionally.
- Employ prioritization skills to manage multiple calls and situations simultaneously.
- Keep callers on the line when possible to provide safety instructions and gather scene insight.
- Assess situations and activate emergency procedures requiring immediate or urgent public‑safety, medical, law‑enforcement, or external intervention.
- Use two‑way radio equipment to communicate with public safety, facilities, and mechanical vendors in the field.
- Adhere to established policies, procedures, and training to provide safe, effective, and efficient service to the Boston Medical Center community.
- Familiarize oneself with all Boston Medical Center buildings, addresses, facilities, street layouts surrounding the campus, and other significant areas to maximize dispatch accuracy and speed.
- Maintain accurate records of all activity in the C2C, field responses, and progress of the Facility Work Order system.
- Operate computer systems, enter data, retrieve data, and modify data for in‑house, CJIS, and LEAPS systems while maintaining confidentiality for CJIS, HIPAA, and private information.
- Disseminate law‑enforcement information concerning wanted persons, stolen vehicles, missing persons, and other relevant data received by LEAPS, telephone, radio, or other means.
- Manage the Mass Notification system (Send Word Now) to provide safety or notification to a larger group for system issues, unusual occurrences, or disaster notifications.
- Collaborate with internal and external technicians and vendors to ensure all facilities, BAS, and security systems operate properly, are serviced, and maintained in good working order.
- Initiate trending and alarming of systems through the BAS, create logs, and issue reports by monitoring the BAS.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned or required.
- Proficient at multitasking and prioritizing multiple calls for service requests and emergencies.
- Ability to learn, understand, and operate all public‑safety and BAS systems and technologies managed in the C2C, including BAS, CAD, telephone and radio equipment, recording and playback software, access‑control and alarm monitoring software, CCTV equipment, CJIS, and LEAPS.
- Complete all associated training/certification requirements and maintain ongoing proficiencies.
- Maintain composure during stressful and demanding situations while projecting confidence and control.
- Work various shifts (day, evening, overnight), weekends, and holidays; willing to work overtime when necessary to meet operational needs.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in person, on telephone, and over the radio.

EducationHigh School diploma or an equivalency certificate issued by the Massachusetts Department of Education.
ExperiencePreferred:
Associate’s Degree or higher.
Preferred:
Knowledge of Building Automation systems and emergency telecommunication training and experience.
$31.11 – $39.11 per hour. The range is based on minimum job qualifications; base pay considers education, experience, and certifications directly related to position requirements.
