Heavy Equipment Operator – Heavy Civil Construction
Boston, MA | $65 - $80/hr | OSHA 10 & 2A-1C License Required
About the RoleAs a Heavy Equipment Operator, you’ll run a variety of machinery to support roadway, utility, and site development work. You’ll perform excavation, grading, trenching, and material handling operations that keep our projects on schedule and up to standard.
You’ll work with a close‑knit team of pipe layers, laborers, and supervisors to safely deliver essential infrastructure throughout the region.
What You’ll Do- Operate heavy equipment including:
Excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, rollers, and more. - Perform excavation, trenching, back filling, and site grading.
- Assist with installing storm drainage, sanitary sewer, and water utilities.
- Follow grade stakes, laser levels, and project plans to achieve accurate elevations.
- Load/unload materials such as pipe, aggregate, and spoils.
- Work closely with field crews to ensure safe and efficient workflow.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and coordinate maintenance needs.
- Maintain safe and compliant equipment operations.
- Keep your work area clean, organized, and hazard‑free.
- Strong proficiency operating multiple types of heavy civil equipment.
- Ability to read and understand construction plans, grades, and stakes.
- Solid knowledge of trench safety, utility work, and excavation practices.
- Good communication skills and a team‑focused attitude.
- 4+ years of heavy equipment operator experience (roadway, site, or utility construction).
- Experience with public infrastructure projects (municipal, DOT, or state).

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boston, MA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $65.00 - $80.00/hr.
