Job Title: Suppression Technician - Special Hazards
Pay Range: $35 - $50/hour
Tiello has partnered with a highly reputable Fire & Life Safety contractor in the Greater Boston area that is actively seeking an experienced Suppression Service Technician to join their growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technician with experience servicing, inspecting, and troubleshooting special hazard and fire suppression systems across commercial and industrial environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong customer‑service mindset, solid technical troubleshooting skills, and experience working with clean agent, dry chemical, CO₂, foam, and other special hazard fire protection systems.
Project TypesCommercial buildings, Industrial facilities, Manufacturing plants, Healthcare facilities, Educational campuses, Municipal buildings, Data centers, and Special Hazard environments.
Key Responsibilities- Install, inspect, test, service, and maintain fire suppression systems including clean agent, dry chemical, foam, and other special hazard systems.
- Perform inspections and testing of suppression system components such as release mechanisms and alarm interfaces.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose system deficiencies, malfunctions, and trouble conditions.
- Respond to emergency service calls and restore systems to normal operating condition.
- Communicate inspection findings, repair recommendations, and system deficiencies to customers.
- Complete detailed inspection reports, service documentation, and work orders accurately and on time.
- Maintain compliance with NFPA standards, local codes, and company safety procedures.
- Support installation and modification projects as required.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Follow all company and customer safety requirements while working in commercial and industrial environments.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 2+ years of experience servicing, inspecting, or installing fire suppression systems.
- Experience with clean agent, dry chemical, CO₂, foam, or special hazard systems preferred.
- Applicable state licenses and certifications preferred or ability to obtain.
- Working knowledge of fire protection codes and industry standards.
- Basic understanding of networking and IP‑based fire protection systems preferred.
- Ability to work from ladders, lifts, and elevated work platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
- Professional communication and customer service skills.
- Self‑motivated, organized, and capable of working independently.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
