Incumbents inspect, troubleshoot, and repair motor vehicles and equipment for agency use, consulting with operators and manufacturers, writing repair orders, and performing related duties.
Basic purposeMaintain and repair motor vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Responsibilities- Overhaul, rebuild, replace, or adjust gasoline or diesel engines, carburetors, distributors, alternators, generators, starters, differentials, and transmissions per manufacturer specifications.
- Change and repair tires, adjust brakes, clean, and lubricate parts to keep vehicles operational.
- Repair and overhaul electrical circuits and units including warning lights, dashboard systems, electronic switch circuits, motor circuits, and solenoid circuits.
- Perform body repair, windshield, and window replacements.
- Operate snow removal/sanding equipment and vehicles, hydraulic lifts, bumper jacks, and diagnostic testing equipment as needed.
Minimum of 2 years experience in related work within the past decade.
