POSITION SUMMARY
Inspects, repairs and maintains all HVAC and related equipment/systems for the facility. Must have experience with refrigeration systems, pneumatic/DDC controls, ice machines, and equipment (Chillers, Cooling Towers, pumps, air handling units, air conditioners, steam and condensate systems, and heating water systems). Must follow codes and regulation relating to the HVAC trade, facilities department, and the hospital.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES- Performs all general maintenance duties.
- Works with General Services Technicians to maintain a safe and efficient patient‑oriented environment.
- Responds to emergency calls for repairs and service from the Control Center.
- Makes rounds as assigned and inspects equipment and records.
- Enters data into the appropriate database.
- Plans and performs preventative maintenance schedules as assigned.
- Troubleshoots all designated equipment and reports any problems.
- Prepares stock orders for purchasing.
- Inspects maintenance equipment to ensure it is functioning properly.
- Performs all work in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ensures work areas are clean and free of debris upon completion of all tasks.
- Utilizes hospital's RESPECT attributes as the basis for decision making and to facilitate the hospital's mission.
- Follows established hospital infection control and safety procedures.
- Assists co‑workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Education: Graduation from high school (or GED).
- Experience: At least five years of experience as a technician or mechanic in either a construction, commercial, industrial, or facilities operations setting.

Basic computer proficiency to keep computerized records and prepare reports. - Ability to follow and give oral and written instructions in English and to read, comprehend, and work from plans and blueprints.
- Highly organized and able to maintain proper productivity and work flow for multiple projects.
- Must be a team player and able to maintain cooperative working relationships.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and respect for a diverse population.
- Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking.
- Must be able to safely use manual tools and power equipment common in the trade.
- Must be able to safely handle hazardous materials.
- Possess and maintain a current, valid Massachusetts driver's license and successfully complete a motor vehicle driving records check.
$36.21 – $57.38 (estimate based on minimum job qualifications).
