The Department of Conservation and Recreation seeks applicants for a Laborer II position at Southwest Corridor Park. The role supports skilled tradespeople and maintains park facilities through a range of manual labor tasks.
Responsibilities- Assist carpenters, plumbers, masons, and other skilled tradesmen with specialized tasks.
- Install, repair, and maintain drainage, sewer, or water pipelines and conduits, including positioning, joining, sealing, and excavating trenches.
- Dig trenches, refill and level excavations, and grade materials using pick and shovel.
- Set and repair curbing; patch damaged pavement by applying materials such as mortar, concrete, and cement.
- Install, repair, and maintain regulatory, historic, and informational signs.
- Plant, transplant, prune, trim, and fertilize trees, flowers, and shrubs; seed lawns; spray for insects and plant diseases; cut grass, rake leaves, and water vegetation.
- Load and unload trucks, unpack and store supplies, and perform periodic inventory in stockrooms or warehouses.
- Operate hand‑held power tools including tapping and rodding machines.
- Operate motor vehicles such as light trucks as required for unit activities.
- Perform related duties as directed.
- Minimum of six months of full‑time (or equivalent part‑time) experience in manual labor related to general construction or maintenance work.
If the position remains in place for less than 90 days, it will revert to a short‑term seasonal role. Salaries for such short‑term positions are not part of the advertised salary scale and will be discussed during the interview process.
