Underground Lineworker Class III
Job SummaryThe Underground Lineworker is responsible for inspecting, installing, constructing, maintaining, and repairing underground plant and equipment, including cable and conduit installation. The role includes operating trucks and equipment of any size and performing tasks related to cable, conductors, and other plant and equipment. The position may assist or be assisted by personnel of a higher, equal, or lower rating for all tasks within the line of progression.

Compensation and LocationStarting Rate of Pay: $39.36 per hour

Dorchester, MA (all classroom training to be held in Wareham, MA)
Rotating Shift Work is Required
Union-Represented Position (UWUA Local 369)
Work ConditionsAbility and willingness to perform heavy physical work indoors and outdoors in all seasons and at extended periods. Experience working in confined spaces preferred.
Minimum Qualifications- Must have the ability to learn the fundamentals of electricity, the layout, functions, and construction of the Company’s underground electrical system, theory and practices of splicing, standards and specifications for installation, maintenance, removal, and repair of the underground electric system, and proper applications of equipment for safety and first aid.
- High School education or equivalent required.
- Two years of electrical, mechanical, or technical experience preferred; must demonstrate interest and aptitude for splicing, cable, and conduit work and ability in underground electric systems.
- Must have a Massachusetts License to Operate Motor Vehicles and a satisfactory driving record; CDL License strongly preferred.
- Must have ability to obtain a Class A CDL license before progressing to the next level.

Regular. Emergency Response:
Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs is part of every employee’s role. If employed, you will be given an Emergency Restoration assignment, which may require assistance during emergencies outside of normal responsibilities, work hours, and location.
