HVAC Service Journeyman

Daikin Applied is seeking a full‑time HVAC Journeyman located in Springfield, MA.

• Service commercial HVAC equipment, inspecting and testing system functionality for chillers, fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes.
• Repair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiring.
• Maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems and prevent premature breakdowns or callbacks.
• Perform intermediate and advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, pipe fitting, and brazing of commercial HVAC equipment.
• Conduct warranty service applications by independently inspecting and testing systems to verify full functionality.
• Educate technical and non‑technical customers on proper use, maintenance schedules, and operating manual usage.
• Lead and participate in the rebuild and retrofit of commercial HVAC units, directing apprentice technicians through hands‑on demonstration of necessary steps.
• Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other required documents promptly and accurately.
• Download programs into commercial HVAC equipment and microcontrollers, analyze chiller trend data to ensure optimal performance.
• Participate in available training through regional technician trainers and off‑site learning modules.
• Maintain all required certifications and continuously develop new skill sets.
• Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and a clean work area are upheld at all times.
• Complete jobsite hazard assessments prior to service initiation and adhere to Daikin Applied and customer safety policies, OSHA guidelines, and local regulations.

• High School Diploma or GED;
  Associate’s Degree or technical school HVAC certification (preferred).
• 5+ years of related experience with increasing responsibility or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Accepted as Journeyman by the union.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law or district.
• Rotational Emergency Call Support availability as required.
• Previous experience mentoring less experienced technicians.
• EPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred).
• OSHA 10 certification (preferred).
• Current first aid / CPR card (preferred).
• Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

The expected hourly rate for this position is $54.76 in MA, subject to the amount outlined in the CBA and may vary based on the level offered.
