Position: Utility Plant Operator (Electrician II)

Utility Plant Operator (Electrician II)

Position governed by AFSCME collective bargaining agreement. Grade 18, Step
7. Salary: $76,887.46 annually.

Shift

7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Test, repair, install, and maintain electrical systems and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical equipment using schematics and diagrams.
  • Maintain inventory, contact vendors, and order materials.
  • Inspect work of outside contractors for compliance with safety codes.
  • Determine on‑job procedure changes, consult with engineers and contractors.
  • Write technical specifications for equipment purchases.
  • Attend meetings, workshops, and seminars.
  • Maintain reports including time, production, and cost data.
  • Interview prospective employees.
  • Provide on‑job training.
Qualifications Acquired on the Job
  • Knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures governing assigned unit activities.
  • Knowledge of life‑saving techniques.
  • Additional qualifications may be acquired based on assignment.
Minimum Entrance Requirements

At least 2 years of full‑time experience as a licensed journeyman or master electrician.

Special Requirements

Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Journeyman or Master Electrician's License issued by the State Examiners of Electricians.

Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States, provide proof of identity and employment eligibility within 3 days of start, and complete required background checks.
