Job Title: BMS Technician

Department: Engineering & Maintenance

Reports To: Building Superintendent

Summary: Installs, repairs, and maintains the Authority’s electrically operated equipment and components, including the building electrical systems. Supplies and monitors electrical service to the exhibit halls in the MCCA facilities. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and installs new fixtures and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Using the color‑coded wires and electrical components, set up and dismantle electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances in the exhibit halls across MCCA facilities.
  • Inspect and test electrical panels, motors, equipment, transformers, HVAC control systems, fire alarm system, and motor control centers.
  • Identify and replace faulty switches, wiring, and other electrical components as needed.
  • Remove and install motors, transformers, circuits, and lighting fixtures in accordance with design specifications.
  • Maintain and repair security equipment, Fire Alarm Systems, and CCTV system components and devices.
  • Remove old electrical fixtures or appliances and replace them as required.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures, protocols, and national and state electric codes.
  • Assist other members of the E&M staff as needed in troubleshooting, maintenance, replacement, and installation of electrical equipment and devices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Superintendent or their designee.
  • Travel to and between all MCCA facilities to perform assigned repairs, maintenance, or installation of various electrical components.
Education & Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 4 years of related work experience and/or training. Possession of a state of Massachusetts certified electrician’s license is required. Preferred experience in fire alarm systems and service.

Physical Demands

The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, handle, and use hands to touch, handle, or feel items. The employee must regularly lift up to 10 pounds, frequently lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds. The job involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical shock risk, high and precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, vibration, and loud noise.

Travel away from home for a few days at a time may be necessary.

Work Schedule

The schedule is flexible: it may require late nights, early mornings, long days, weekends, and holidays, with travel to other MCCA facilities as needed.
