Building Controls Technician Security Clearance

Overview

The Building People, LLC has a full-time Control Technician position to support retro-commissioning and calibration of existing building automation and direct digital control (DDC) systems. The role collaborates with project managers and subcontractors to meet project requirements and may require travel.

• Maintain accurate and thorough project documentation and redlines.
• Complete sensor calibrations on HVAC control systems.
• Perform PID loop tuning on equipment programs to optimize operation.
• Assist with project subcontractors, including test and balance contractors.
• Support engineering of control system hardware and software programming based on project plans and specifications.
• Implement programming, graphics, and sequences of operation for DDC systems.
• Assist in calibration activities, point-to-point checkouts, and testing as directed.
• Collaborate with team to ensure alignment with project requirements and quality standards.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with Niagara 4 Workbench software (preferred).
• Strong analytical skills.
• Experience with electronics and basic electrical circuits.
• Ability to use test equipment for calibrating sensors.
• Excellent customer service and ability to work well with others.
• Basic understanding of DDC theory and applications related to HVAC equipment.

• At least 1 year of experience with programming, startup, and/or commissioning of control systems.
• Niagara Ax or N4 certification is a plus but not required.
• Understanding of installation of controls equipment and ancillary devices/sensors.

Physically able to climb overhead or crawl under spaces to complete jobs.
