Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a Mobile Plant Service Engineer to join an established business offering a varied role with fresh challenges and a rewarding career path. Based in Boston Lincolnshire, this business designs and manufactures heavy duty machinery for the growing international pipeline and cable trenching industries. The bespoke machines can weigh over 100 tonnes and use high horsepower diesel engines to power a hydrostatic drive system with intelligent machine management and control systems.
The in‑house engineering skills are second to none, encompassing mechanical, electrical, diesel, hydraulic, land‑based and offshore technology. Working as part of the after‑sales support team as a Mobile Plant Service Engineer, you’ll be involved in the service, maintenance, and repair of diesel hydraulic mobile machinery, both factory‑based and off‑site.
- Service and maintenance of mobile machinery
- Testing, diagnostics and repair of hydraulic and electrical systems
- Installation and maintenance of laser and GPS machine control systems
- Mechanical machinery fitting and welding
- Commissioning and operator training for new machines
- UK‑wide travel with occasional nights out
- Demonstrable skills and experience of mechanical machinery fitting, maintenance and welding
- Working knowledge of hydraulic pumps, motors and components, closed‑loop and open‑loop hydraulic fluid power systems
- Electrohydraulic control systems and proportional hydraulic control
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic and electrical system drawings and schematic circuits
- Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems
- Full driving licence, preferably clean with no penalty points
- Good problem solver able to work on own initiative
- Excellent communication skills; customer‑facing role
- Drive to go above and beyond
