Tufts Medical Center is seeking an HVAC Technician to join our Engineering, Maintenance & Asset Management team in a leading academic healthcare environment. In this role, you will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation across our patient care and research facilities. You'll collaborate with clinical and facilities staff, support preventive maintenance programs, respond to service calls, and help optimize building systems.

Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC, refrigeration, and mechanical systems serving clinical, research, and administrative spaces.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on air handlers, boilers, chillers, pumps, exhaust systems, and related equipment.
- Monitor, adjust, and optimize building automation systems to maintain proper temperature, humidity, airflow, and pressurization.
- Respond to HVAC-related work orders and service calls, prioritizing issues that may impact patient care or critical operations.
- Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions or repairs.
- Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, equipment manuals, and specifications to guide maintenance and repair work.
- Document all work performed in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), including parts used and time spent.
- Coordinate with clinical staff, engineering colleagues, and outside vendors to schedule work and minimize disruption to patient care.
- Follow all relevant safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements applicable to healthcare facilities and mechanical systems.
- Participate in on-call rotation, shift work, and occasional overtime to support 24/7 hospital operations and emergency responses.

- Commercial HVAC installation and repair
- Maintenance of boilers, chillers, and air handlers
- Building automation systems (BAS) monitoring and adjustment
- Reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical schematics
- Preventive and predictive maintenance planning
- HVAC troubleshooting and diagnostics
- Refrigerant handling and leak detection
- Use of HVAC test equipment (manometers, multimeters, gauges)
- Energy efficiency optimization in building systems
- Work order and CMMS documentation
- Compliance with healthcare facility codes and standards
- Basic plumbing and electrical repair related to HVACCoordination with clinical and facilities staff
- Vendor coordination and parts sourcing
- Safety procedures in medical environments
