ABOUT THE JOB
Under the Senior Advisor for Digital Equity in the Digital Equity Department, the Digital Navigator helps residents get online, use devices safely, and build everyday digital skills for appointments, school, work, benefits, and banking. This role is friendly, patient, and meets people where they are. This is a temporary grant funded position set to end on or before December 31, 2026.
Duties & Responsibilities- Welcome residents; listen to goals/barriers; make a simple plan for each person.
- Provide 1:1 help and small group sessions (30–60 min): phone, tablet, laptop basics; email; video visits; job search; online forms; tenant portals; safety/scam awareness; language‑access tools.
- Connect residents to affordable internet options and device supports available at the property/community.
- Coordinate space, flyers, and sign‑ups for classes.
- Track simple outcomes: people served, skills gained, referrals made; protect resident privacy.
- Share quick monthly updates with the housing operator (what worked, what’s needed).
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Track success measures, such as number of residents served and skills completed; number of connections to low‑cost internet/devices; and number of resident satisfaction and referrals to partners.
- Patient, trusted communicator who can explain tech in simple steps.
- Comfortable with smartphones/computers; willing to learn and teach.
- Respects confidentiality; trauma‑informed and stigma‑aware (including SUD).
- Bilingual/multilingual a plus; lived experience in the community is valued.
