Overview

Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for Boston's residents by partnering with various organizations to offer a wide range of comprehensive programs and activities. The BCYF Mattahunt is committed to providing affordable, high-quality, outcome-driven programs that are responsive to the neighborhood's needs and interests. Since our inception in 2023, we have organized youth development workshops on sustainable practices, community clean-up initiatives, and financial literacy workshops.

We strive to create a collaborative atmosphere where individuals can connect, learn, and contribute to a healthier environment while building strong relationships within the community.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Program Assistant Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Administrative Coordinator, Program Supervisor, and Athletic Director, the Program Assistant will assist with community programs and activities.

  • Active Participation:
    Actively engage in all programs and activities, providing support where necessary to ensure participant involvement.
  • Equipment Setup and Breakdown:
    Assist with the setup and breakdown of program equipment, ensuring that all items are properly stored after use.
  • Facility Maintenance:
    Help maintain the Mattahunt Community Center by performing tasks such as dry mopping, trash pickup, sanitizing, and wiping down equipment and spaces (Youth Room, Gym, Collaboration Room).
  • Enforce Rules:
    Ensure that community center rules are followed by participants and address any violations promptly.
  • Youth Engagement:
    Encourage youth participation in activities, promoting enthusiasm, inclusion, and a positive environment.
  • Behavior Management:
    Redirect inappropriate behavior and report concerns to center staff for further action.
  • Safety and Cleanliness:
    Maintain a safe, clean, engaging, and inclusive environment for all youth participants.
  • Event and Activity Support:
    Provide support for and participate in general youth engagement activities, events, and special projects as needed.

  • Willingness to Learn:
    Open to learning new skills, techniques, and approaches to working with youth and enhancing the program experience.
