This position will provide developmentally and culturally appropriate and legally defensible forensic interviews, support and case management for high-risk youth and child victims of commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC).
Bachelor’s Degree in social work, human services, psychology, criminal justice, education or a related field. Master’s Degree in related field preferred. A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience working with children and families where abuse and violence are identified issues and experience in the criminal justice/child welfare system. Experience in the mental health field is helpful.
Essential Functions- Conduct forensic interviews of high-risk youth and child victims of commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking.
- Conduct intakes and assess cases to determine appropriate timeframe for an MDT response.
- Serve as the primary contact for all referrals of suspected Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) and high-risk youth.
- Coordinate cases and facilitate communication and case conference meetings between local, state, and federal jurisdictions.
- Participate in pre/post interview multidisciplinary team response.
- Participate in case reviews and present cases when requested.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and present results of forensic interviews.
- Provide short-term case management, community-based, and mental health referrals.
- Facilitate and be liaison for the Cape and Islands CSEC Working Group.
- Respond to subpoenas and testify when requested.
- Collecting and entering data into the case tracking system.
- Participate in supervision, peer review, professional development and ongoing training activities including being trained in forensic interview technique.
- Act as a community liaison and representative of the agency.
- Conduct outreach/training for CSEC initiatives in the community.
- Provide information and consultation to partner agencies regarding CSEC.
- Perform other similar or related duties as required or as situations dictate.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in social work, human services, psychology, criminal justice, education or a related field. Master’s Degree in related field preferred. A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience working with children and families where abuse and violence are identified issues and experience in the criminal justice/child welfare system. Experience in the mental health field is helpful.
Knowledge: Knowledge of the National Child Advocacy Center model. Thorough knowledge of child and family development, systemic issues which impact CSEC such as issues with social services, law enforcement, criminal, and civil legal systems.
Ability: Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment and independently. Must relate to children in all age groups, socio-economic background, and cultures. Ability to work sensitively with traumatized youth using a trauma informed, survivor centered and harm reduction approach. Must be comfortable speaking and presenting in public.
Skill: Proficient computer skills, including data management. Skill and ability in operating standard office equipment. Effective oral and written communication as well as strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Required Licensing/Certification: Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Must pass a thorough criminal background investigation.
- Work is performed under typical office conditions, with moderate noise from office equipment, telephones and light traffic and many interruptions. Work fluctuates with different event planning throughout the year.
- Must be able to deal with a variety of emotions under stressful situations and can deal with people who have experienced traumatic incidents. Emotional stability, personal maturity and wellpracticed self-care are important attributes in this position.
- Must be able to meet on‑call requirements to respond to crisis intervention.
