Pay$22.41 - $24.76 per hour, DOE (Salary ranges provided are based on relevant experience and skill set)

Summary of the PositionThe Part Time Front Desk Counselor will be responsible for maintaining an exceptional customer service-oriented Men’s Inn front desk, welcoming guests, staff, and visitors in person and via phone. Respond to guest and neighbor concerns and questions in a timely, professional, and responsive manner. Operate an electronic entry monitoring system and multi-line phone system. Log all activities of the shift. Create guest IDs and frequent entry into the Pine Street data system.
Maintain friendly and efficient front desk operations in a busy, unpredictable environment. Collaborate frequently with on-site security services as well as other Pine Street programs and departments.
The counselor will assist guests of the shelter in accessing services such as food, clothing, medical care, and referral needs. Ensure a safe and secure environment for guests and staff at the Men's Inn by attending to safety and security policies, intervening with assistance around substance abuse issues and mental illness, job training and educational needs, assessing guests’ needs and assets to make appropriate transitional and housing referrals, and supporting guests in their efforts to obtain permanent housing.
RequirementsEducation / Training
- High School diploma or GED
- Effective computer skills/knowledge
- Bilingual in any language
- Valid MA driver’s license in good standing
- Minimum one (1) year experience working with homeless population
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
- Knowledge in the areas of addiction, recovery, and mental illness
- Knowledge of issues pertaining to homelessness
- Ability to stand for relatively long periods of time
- Ability to stretch, bend, lift, and assist guests up and down stairs, and in-and-out of wheelchairs
- Requires the ability to respond to emergency situations in a fast and safe manner
