Job Description & How to Apply Below

We’re working with a rapidly scaling robotics company looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead and grow their motion planning function. This role sits at the core of how robotic systems behave in the real world, owning the algorithms that allow robotic arms to manipulate, unload, and move goods safely and efficiently in live warehouse environments.

This start-up company is building robotic systems that solve real operational problems in logistics and warehousing. Their robots are already deployed in customer environments, handling physically demanding tasks that are difficult to staff and challenging to automate.

The team is focused on reliability, performance, and scale. Engineers work close to hardware, iterate quickly based on real-world feedback, and measure success by systems that customers rely on daily.

The company offers a comprehensive benefits package including health coverage, generous time off, retirement contributions, and practical perks designed to support engineers doing hands-on, high-impact work.

This is a hands‑on leadership role combining people management, technical direction, and close collaboration with product and hardware teams. You’ll take motion planning systems from early concepts through deployment on production robots operating at scale.

What You’ll Accomplish
  • Mentor, manage, and grow a team of motion planning software engineers
  • Foster technical excellence and career development through code reviews, coaching, and regular one‑on‑ones
  • Set the technical vision and provide hands‑on leadership for motion planning systems
  • Partner with product and engineering leadership to align technical execution with the broader roadmap
  • Ensure robust, safe, and high‑performing behaviors in both simulation and on real robots
  • Participate in design reviews, algorithm development, and deep technical problem solving

Own the output and long‑term success of the motion planning team as the company scales
Who You Are
  • 5+ years of experience in robotics software development, including at least 2 years in a people management role
  • Strong foundation in motion planning and control techniques for robotic manipulators and mobile robots such as RRT, MPC, or trajectory optimization
  • Proficient in C++ and Python with experience using ROS or comparable robotics frameworks
  • Experience with robotics simulation tools such as Gazebo, Isaac Sim, or similar environments
  • A strong mentor and communicator who collaborates effectively across disciplines
  • Curious, adaptable, and motivated to stay close to the evolving state of the art in robotics
  • Passionate about building software that runs on real robots in production environments
  • Willing to work on site multiple days per week in a collaborative engineering environment

Competitive salary range commensurate with experience, level, and location. Compensation is set transparently and in good faith, with flexibility depending on seniority and impact.
