Staff Software Engineer – Quantum Technologies | Boston, MA

Are you passionate about building software at the intersection of research, science, hardware, and cutting‑edge technology? We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join a team advancing next-generation quantum computing.

In this role, you’ll build scalable, reliable, researcher-friendly software that accelerates discovery. You’ll help shape software architecture, mentor engineers, and design systems that make our R&D workflows more efficient, automated, and impactful.

• Develop and maintain R&D software for scientists, ensuring stability and high performance.
• Design and manage backend, frontend, and cloud infrastructure for data acquisition.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for rapid, reliable deployments.
• Automate calibration and bring‑up of lab equipment.
• Review code, guide architecture, and mentor teammates.
• Make software more accessible, scalable, and self‑service for research teams.

• Python for researcher‑facing interfaces and APIs.
• C++ or Rust for high‑performance, maintainable backend systems. Experience interfacing Python with Rust backends.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience (10+ preferred for leadership).
• Experience in scientific or R&D environments, ideally supporting hardware, automation, or data acquisition.
• Strong skills in cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), CI/CD, and database design.
• Ability to mentor and provide technical leadership across a team.
