Lead Software Engineer — AI-Driven Product Innovation

This opportunity is with a client of Andiamo, supporting a forward-thinking organization in the digital media and subscription platform space. The team is focused on redefining how users engage with content by leveraging cutting-edge AI to deliver highly personalized, intelligent experiences at scale.

About

The Role

This is a hands‑on leadership role for an experienced engineer who thrives on turning emerging AI capabilities into real, measurable product value. You will operate as a senior individual contributor, owning the full lifecycle of AI‑powered features—from ideation to deployment—while influencing how AI is adopted across the broader engineering organization.

You won’t be confined to theory or experimentation. This role is about building, launching, and refining features that directly enhance user engagement, retention, and satisfaction. You’ll collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to ensure that every solution is grounded in real customer needs and delivers tangible outcomes.

What You’ll Do
  • Drive AI Product Innovation:
Identify and prioritize opportunities where AI can meaningfully enhance user experiences, including personalization, content discovery, and intelligent search.
  • Own End‑to‑End Delivery:
Design, build, and deploy AI‑powered features across the full stack—spanning data pipelines, model integrations, APIs, and user‑facing applications.
  • Collaborate on Product Strategy:
Partner with product leaders to shape roadmaps, define impactful features, and ensure technical solutions align with both user needs and business goals.
  • Prototype and Iterate Rapidly:
Move quickly from concept to working prototypes, validate ideas with real‑world usage, and refine solutions into production‑ready capabilities.
  • Establish AI Engineering Standards:
Define best practices for working with AI technologies, including evaluation frameworks, prompt design, model tuning, observability, and responsible AI usage.
  • Amplify Team Capabilities:
Act as a technical leader across the organization by mentoring engineers, reviewing AI‑related work, and sharing knowledge to elevate overall team performance.
  • Stay Ahead of the Curve:
Continuously evaluate emerging tools, frameworks, and techniques in AI, bringing forward the most relevant innovations to improve product capabilities.
What You Bring Experience

7+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years delivering AI/ML‑driven features in production environments.

AI Expertise

Strong hands‑on experience with modern AI technologies, including large language models, prompt engineering, retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), vector databases, and agent‑based systems.

Engineering Fundamentals

Deep understanding of system design, scalable architectures, APIs, and data pipelines, with a focus on maintainability and performance.

Ownership Mentality

Proven ability to take ideas from concept to production, measuring impact and iterating based on real‑world results.

Collaboration

Comfort working cross‑functionally with product, design, and business stakeholders to translate needs into effective technical solutions.

Communication

Ability to clearly explain complex technical decisions and trade‑offs to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Preferred Experience
  • Background in SaaS or subscription‑based products.
  • Experience applying AI to personalization, search, or user engagement challenges.
  • Familiarity with responsible AI practices, evaluation methodologies, and safety considerations.
  • Exposure to high‑traffic, consumer‑facing platforms.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent hands‑on experience.
  • Demonstrated success building scalable applications that serve large user bases.
  • A curiosity‑driven mindset with a passion for experimentation and continuous improvement.
Location & Compensation

This role is based in Boston, MA, with in‑office collaboration opportunities.

Compensation typically ranges from $175,000 to $200,000, depending on experience, expertise, and other relevant factors.

Why This Role Stands Out
  • Shape the future of AI‑powered user experiences in a real‑world, high‑impact product environment.
  • Work with modern AI technologies and apply them at scale.
  • Influence product direction and technical strategy without requiring formal people management.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams across engineering, product, and data.
  • Be part of a culture that values innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning.
Why This Role Matters

This position sits at the forefront of integrating AI into consumer‑facing digital products. Your work will directly influence how users discover, engage with, and derive value from content. By combining technical expertise with product thinking, you’ll help define the next generation of intelligent user experiences.
