Software Dev Engineer II, AWS RDS Proxy

Job :  | Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. This position is for the Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) team, focusing on the RDS Proxy service. The role is located in Redmond, Washington.

Amazon RDS is an industry‑leading web service that simplifies the set‑up, operation, and scaling of relational databases in the cloud. The RDS Proxy is a managed database proxy that improves scalability, resilience, and security by sharing connections, minimizing disruptions during outages, and centralizing credential control.

• Collaborate with cross‑disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and deliver innovative products and services that impact customers at scale.
• Design and build robust technologies within a large‑scale distributed computing environment, driving meaningful changes in how customers interact with database infrastructure.
• Translate broadly defined, ambiguous problems into well‑scoped technical designs and high‑quality code, making sound trade‑offs along the way.
• Own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of features—from requirements and design through deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement across all AWS partitions.
• Work in an agile environment to deliver high‑quality software iteratively, with a strong focus on operational excellence and customer impact.

• 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, scaling)
• 1+ year of experience as a software development engineer or related occupation
• 1+ year of designing and developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered, multi‑threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, using C#, C++, Java, or Perl
• 1+ year of Object‑Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience (coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations)
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent

Base salary range: $ – $ USD annually.
