Position Overview
Federal Reserve Bank of Boston Federal Reserve Financial Services (FRFS) is launching the Fed Now real‑time gross settlement service. This role is a Software Engineer focused on developing high‑performance cloud solutions to power Fed Now and other Fed services. The position will be primarily on‑site and requires residency commutable to one of our offices.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and implement complex solutions for Fed Now and Fed standards.
- Develop backend services in the Cloud and build Java application components, integrating with high‑performing, scalable, and reliable products.
- Provide technical leadership on complex projects and collaborate with Agile teammates to define user requirements, conduct design reviews, and deliver cloud applications using modern internet‑scale technologies and serverless architecture.
- Ensure software quality, prevent catastrophic defects, and maintain production reliability.
- Provide primary or backup production support, resolving production problems and processing issues.
- Ensure compliance with Fed policies, procedures, and standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent background.
- 3–5 years of software engineering experience in a team‑based environment.
- Experience building and deploying cloud‑first architectures, including serverless implementations.
- Proficiency in Java; experience with Python and Type Script is a bonus.
- Experience with CI/CD, Dev Ops processes, and high‑performance, high‑volume, 24/7/365 environments.
- Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Lean, etc.).
- Proficient knowledge of operating systems (Linux, Unix, Windows) and relational databases (SQL, Oracle, DB2).
- Experience with AWS services and other leading‑edge cloud technologies (Kafka, No
SQL, messaging, memcache, etc.). - Strong communication skills and independent decision‑making abilities.
- Knowledge of cloud security for application development and deployment.
- Familiarity with IaC concepts;
Terraform experience is a bonus.
Salary range: $132,300 – $165,400 – $198,500.
