Catastrophe & Risk Solutions (CRS) is entering a defining chapter. The widespread market adoption of our Next Generation Financial Model and the upcoming launch of Verisk Synergy Studio, our next-generation modeling platform, are opening up new possibilities for how we develop, package, and deliver catastrophe models. As Director of Model Product Management, you will own the full model product lifecycle, from early scoping and science translation through launch and client adoption.
You will be accountable for keeping our models as the industry standard: grounded in the best available science and built to address the most demanding client use cases. This role also affords you a chance to become a recognized voice in an industry that shapes how the world prepares for catastrophe risk.
- Define and champion the multi-year model product strategy, ensuring alignment with evolving market needs, client expectations, and the capabilities of Verisk Synergy Studio.
- Own the business case for new model investments, defining scope, sizing market opportunity, and making clear trade-off recommendations to senior leadership.
- Partner with research and science teams to translate cutting-edge research into well-scoped, market-ready product requirements.
- Engage directly with clients throughout the model lifecycle to understand their technical and business requirements, and ensure those needs are reflected from initial design through post‑release change management.
- Conduct rigorous competitive analysis and maintain market positioning frameworks that keep CRS ahead of industry trends.
- Gather and synthesize structured feedback from clients, sales, and consulting teams to inform product prioritization.
- Cross‑Functional Leadership
:
Coordinate model launches and lead go‑to‑market strategies in collaboration with Marketing, Sales, Consulting, Client Services, and Regulatory Affairs. Work closely with adjacent Verisk business units to identify integration and co‑marketing opportunities that amplify value for shared markets. Represent the product organization in cross‑functional planning processes, ensuring model development priorities are understood across Software Development, Research, Sales, and Client Services. - Thought Leadership & Industry Influence
:
Serve as a visible expert voice for Verisk in catastrophe risk management through conference participation, white papers, industry publications, and client forums. Monitor regulatory developments and scientific advances to inform forward‑looking product strategy and public‑facing commentary.
- 7+ years of direct professional experience with catastrophe models, gained on the carrier, broker, reinsurer, or vendor side.
- Deep understanding of how catastrophe model outputs are consumed and operationalized within insurance and reinsurance workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical subjects into clear business narratives for diverse audiences.
- Proven track record of leading cross‑functional initiatives and managing competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with confidence to engage C‑suite clients and internal executive stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline.
- Advanced degree or credential in a scientific, engineering, or quantitative discipline relevant to catastrophe modeling.
- Experience spanning both the model‑development side (vendor or research) and the model‑consumption side (carrier, broker, or reinsurer), providing a dual perspective on product‑market fit.
