Principal Software Engineer Profile Summary
The Principal Software Engineer is a technical expert and strategic leader who sets the direction for architectural decisions, engineering standards, and platform evolution. This role drives complex, high‑impact initiatives and cross‑functional collaboration, ensuring scalable, secure, and future‑ready systems that align with enterprise goals.
Profile Description- Lead architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise‑grade systems and/or multiple platforms.
- Drive technical strategy, best practices and innovation across teams, ensuring long‑term scalability and maintainability.
- Act as a key decision‑maker in technology evaluations, design patterns, and engineering practices.
- 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership capacity.
- Deep expertise in modern application architecture, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), and enterprise systems integration.
- Track record of leading complex technical projects with cross‑functional impact.
- Extensive experience in mentoring senior and lead engineers.
- Strong strategic thinking, communication, and influence across technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Partner with product, infrastructure, security, and other stakeholders to align engineering efforts with strategic goals.
- Mentor senior and lead engineers, cultivating a culture of excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Solve complex technical challenges involving large‑scale data, distributed systems, and cross‑domain integrations.
- Champion automation, cloud‑native development, and observability at the enterprise level.
- Effectively represent engineering in executive‑level planning and cross‑team initiatives.
Voya is committed to pay that’s fair and equitable. The annual base salary range for this position is $173,330 – $192,590. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long‑term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives.
