Overview

Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) is a scalable, reliable, secure, and inexpensive storage service that enables developers to store and retrieve any amount of data from anywhere on the web. We are expanding S3 with an engineering team focused on high‑performance, distributed software that supports a wide variety of use cases.

• Design, implement, deploy, and maintain innovative software solutions to transform service performance, availability, cost, and security.
• Use Rust and software engineering best practices to ensure high quality of all team deliverables.
• Write high‑quality distributed system software.
• Work in an agile development environment, continuously prioritizing the most important work.
• Mentor junior software development engineers.

S3 services are highly available, yet on‑call rotations ensure minimal impact during departures from normal operations. These rotations are scheduled to allow focus on day‑to‑day work when not on‑call.

• 5+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language.
• 4+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, scalability).
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or an equivalent field.
