Software Engineering Team Lead

Please note - this position will involve regular travel to Boston, MA, likely on a bi‑weekly or monthly basis.

A Frontier AI startup backed by $170m in funding is hiring a Software Engineering Team Lead to lead the team building the distributed backend systems powering autonomous Software Engineering agents. The team includes alumni from OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft AI, and NASA, combining deep foundation model work with serious mathematical research.

This is a hands‑on leadership position focused on leading a team of engineers while remaining deeply involved in architecting distributed systems for autonomous agents and building high‑performance backend services in Python. You will drive the technical direction of the team, mentor engineers, oversee the design of orchestration and execution infrastructure for large‑scale code transformation, and ensure reliability, scalability, and security in production environments.

• 7+ years in Backend Engineering with deep Python expertise
• Previous experience leading or mentoring engineering teams
• Strong stakeholder management and the ability to drive technical delivery
• Proven technical leadership with a hands‑on approach
