Hybrid 3 days onsite in Boston, MA
Our client seeks a Sr. Principal Engineer to design, develop, and maintain software, databases, and processes that support core business environments across research, investments, front office, and trading. The role works within a small engineering team, engages directly with end users, and requires strong analytical and communication skills. The team performs significant integration work, including trading integrations with Charles River OMS.
The position offers the opportunity to collaborate across IT and business units, apply best practices, and contribute hands‑on coding.
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity, offering a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. Qualified applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis.
Salary: $190,000 - $215,000/ yr. w2
Responsibilities- Design and develop applications that support business units across research, investments, front office, and trading.
- Own ongoing maintenance and enhancement of existing core business applications.
- Collaborate closely within IT and with business stakeholders across the firm.
- Contribute to integration initiatives, including trading workflows tied to Charles River OMS.
- Apply modern software design principles, best practices, and disciplined engineering methods.
- 10+ years of software development experience.
- 5+ years in financial services or financial management.
- Significant experience with Python and its ecosystem.
- Strong proficiency with relational databases and SQL.
- Knowledge of C# and Microsoft stack is a plus.
- Experience leading a technical team is a plus.
- Cloud-based development experience. AWS preferred. Includes building and deploying applications in cloud environments, infrastructure as code such as Terraform or Cloud Formation, containers and orchestration such as Docker or Kubernetes, and monitoring, logging, and foundational cloud security practices.
- Familiarity with order management systems. Charles River OMS experience is valuable.
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent.
