BOSTON, MA (hybrid) | Full Time | $160,000 - $200,000
The CompanyA well-funded robotics company based in Boston building systems that operate in complex, unstructured environments. The engineering team is small, senior, and moving fast. This is a hands-on role with real ownership.
The RoleYou will be writing production-grade firmware and embedded software for robotic platforms, working closely with hardware and controls engineers to bring systems from prototype through to deployment. The problems are genuinely hard and the work is varied.
What You Will Work On- Real-time firmware development on embedded Linux and RTOS platforms
- Low-level drivers, sensor integration, and hardware bring-up
- Communication protocols including CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, and Ethernet
- Performance optimization for compute-constrained environments
- Cross-functional collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and controls teams
- 5+ years of embedded software experience, ideally in robotics or a related field
- Strong C/C++ across embedded systems
- Experience with real-time operating systems and bare-metal development
- Comfort working close to hardware and debugging at the register level
- Prior exposure to ROS or ROS2 is a plus, not a requirement
