Job Description:Job Summary
The Pharmacy Middleware Integration Engineer will design, build, maintain, and operate middleware integrations across veterinary Practice Information Management Systems (PIMS), pharmacy management systems, and downstream platforms including laboratories, payment systems, communications, analytics, and cloud services. The role will own the integration layer end to end, including connectivity, data mapping, transformation, synchronization, reliability, monitoring, and reconciliation across a diverse and evolving veterinary PIMS and pharmacy landscape.
Hands‑on experience with Bitwerx and Data Hub Vet is essential.
- Design, build, and maintain middleware integrations connecting veterinary PIMS and pharmacy management systems with third-party and internal platforms.
- Build and operate integrations using veterinary middleware platforms including Bitwerx and Data Hub Vet .
- Develop and manage API, database‑level, and file‑based integrations using REST, webhooks, batch/flat-file, and database connectors.
- Implement data mapping, transformation, and bi-directional synchronization across patients, clients, appointments, invoices, clinical records, prescriptions, and pharmacy/dispensing data.
- Ensure integration reliability through error handling, retries, monitoring, and reconciliation processes.
- Troubleshoot production integration issues and resolve connectivity and data quality problems.
- Work directly with veterinary practices, pharmacies, and vendors to investigate and resolve integration issues.
- Support integrations across multiple veterinary PIMS platforms and downstream systems.
- Maintain integration processes and continuously improve reliability and data quality.
- 5+ years of hands‑on integration engineering experience, with a strong focus on veterinary or healthcare environments.
- Essential hands‑on experience with veterinary PIMS middleware platforms, specifically Bitwerx and Data Hub Vet .
- Proven integration experience across veterinary PIMS platforms, including several of ezyVet, Cornerstone, Impro Med, Pulse, AVImark, and Neo.
- Experience integrating veterinary or healthcare pharmacy management systems, including prescriptions, dispensing, formulary, and inventory data.
- Strong understanding of API integration patterns, data mapping, transformation, and synchronization architectures.
- Solid programming experience with .NET, Java, Python, Node.js, or a similar programming language.
- Strong SQL and database skills.
- Experience designing and operating middleware integrations with error handling, retries, monitoring, and reconciliation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across integration, connectivity, and data quality issues.
- Familiarity with IDEXX and Covetrus ecosystems and their integration mechanisms.
- Experience with laboratory, payment, or client-communication integrations within veterinary or healthcare environments.
- Cloud integration experience with AWS or Azure.
- Experience with messaging and queueing patterns.
