The Manager of Fitness Experience is a strategic and operational leader responsible for elevating the personal training experience across Planet Fitness clubs operated by Core Development & Management. You’ll serve as a coach, recruiter, and partner to our Development and Marketing teams, ensuring our fitness programming and deployment reflects our brand values and exceeds member expectations. This position is based in the New England market and requires regular travel throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont, and the Pacific Northwest
.
- Coach and support Certified Fitness Trainers across all clubs.
- Track and report trainer KPIs (e.g., schedule adherence, session volume, new member engagement, seasoned member engagement and member retention).
- Design, publish and maintain weekly trainer schedule assignments leveraging individual trainers across multiple locations, ensuring both trainer and training program visibility in clubs.
- Partner with Club Managers and District Managers to align trainer activities with club operations and member experience goals.
- Ensure all trainers maintain current certifications and adhere to safety protocols.
- Conduct weekly audits of training sessions and member interactions to ensure compliance with brand and legal standards.
- Serve as point of contact for incident reporting and resolution related to fitness programming.
- Report and discuss KPIs cross-functionally with leaders in Finance, Marketing, Operations, and Development.
- Travel to support new club launches and remodels.
- Train staff and introduce members to new equipment.
- Advise on equipment layout and placement for optimal member flow.
- Lead recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of new trainers.
- Provide temporary coverage or deploy resources to clubs with staffing gaps.
- Recognize top-performing trainers through internal shoutouts or spotlight features.
- Foster a culture of accountability, growth, and community among trainers across all locations.
- Partner with Marketing to create branded fitness activations and mini–Judgement Free Zones®.
- Coordinate with development on redistribution of equipment across clubs to maximize member value.
- Coordinate with Facilities to ensure equipment is maintained and trainer feedback is incorporated into maintenance schedules.
- 3+ years in personal training leadership or multi-site fitness operations.
- Current nationally recognized training certification (NASM, ISSA, ACE, etc.).
- Strong leadership and people development skills.
- Highly organized and comfortable with digital tools and systems.
- Ability to travel 50-75% across the Core Development footprint.
- Trainer performance and KPI attainment across clubs.
- Timely and accurate publishing of club training schedules.
- Successful deployment of trainers to ensure weekly coverage by trainer at all clubs while adhering to company budgets.
- Member satisfaction with training experiences.
- Successful trainer hiring and retention.
- Execution quality of fitness zones in new/remodeled clubs.
