The Jr. Celtics Academy (JCA) is the official youth basketball platform of the 18-Time World Champion Boston Celtics, which is dedicated to improving positive youth development in the community through highly engaging basketball programs teaching the standards of Celtics basketball to kids, coaches, and parents.

The Jr. Celtics program, powered by our partnership with New Balance is seeking a Head Coach to oversee and elevate our part‑time coaching staff. In this role, you will:
Lead and mentor a team of Jr. Celtics coaches, Drive innovation in youth basketball programming and set the tone for culture and performance. This is more than a coaching position; it’s a leadership opportunity to shape the future of youth basketball and grow a program that reflects the Celtics’ legacy of excellence.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as primary Head Coach for all Jr. Celtics Coaches
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding and staffing of coaches across locations
  • Assist with Coach and Staff Training for Camps, Leagues, and other products as appropriate
  • Conduct coaching performance assessments
  • Create camp manual and coach handbook for obtaining required licensing and permits
  • Provide expertise in youth basketball product development, including curriculum review
  • Manage JCA Kids Zone on game days
  • Manage all basketball‑specific equipment, including distribution across locations
  • Assist with Customer Care inquiries
  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree or related experience
    • 1 year of business operations experience
    • 2 years of coaching and playing experience at the High School or College level
    • Experience in running, creating, and organizing youth basketball programming
    • Experience managing a team and/or coaching staff in youth sports
    • Minimum 2 years of experience working in youth basketball coaching
    • Ability to lead by example, showcasing a strong work ethic and positive attitude
    • Desire to create an enthusiastic and uplifting environment for everyone on and off the court, connecting with participants of all ages and abilities, from rookies to seasoned players
    • Dedication to maintaining a safe environment for all
    • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
    • Ability to adapt and adjust in the moment
    • Ability to work a non‑traditional schedule (nights, weekends, holidays
    • Proficient in business software and technology (Word, Excel, etc.)

    The expected range of annual salary/hourly rate and potential commission, if applicable, is included below. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this/these range(s) will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position, market and industry considerations, budgetary considerations, tenure, performance, and standing with the company (applicable to current employees), as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.

    Annual Salary Range: $51,000.00 - $78,000.00
