The Loading Dock Manager oversees the daily operations of the loading dock to ensure the efficient and safe handling of goods and materials. This role involves coordinating shipping and receiving activities, managing a team of dock workers, and ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and leadership skills to maintain a smooth workflow within the loading dock environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all loading dock operations, including the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods.
  • Coordinate with shipping and receiving teams to meet delivery schedules and customer expectations.
  • Ensure the proper handling and storage of goods to prevent damage or loss.
  • Manage, train, and motivate dock staff to maintain high performance and adherence to safety guidelines.
  • Monitor inventory and oversee the accuracy of shipping and receiving records.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as logistics and warehouse management, to address operational needs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to dock operations or equipment.
  • Maintain and report on key performance metrics to senior management.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in logistics, supply chain, or related fields is a plus.
  • Proven experience in warehouse, logistics, or dock management.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and shipping software.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects as needed.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
