Overview
Do you enjoy working outdoors in a fast-paced, safety-obsessed aviation environment? As a Ramp Agent, you will be essential in ensuring that flights run on time by providing efficient ground support services for Alliance Ground International (AGI).
Responsibilities- Guide inbound/outbound airplanes to and from the gate.
- Transport, lift, load/unload, sort and transfer passenger baggage, cargo, and mail in and out of aircraft bins, belt loader, or baggage carts in a safe manner.
- Safeguard customer baggage, air cargo, and airmail from weather, loss, theft, damage, or destruction.
- Clean aircraft passenger cabins between flights and stock aircraft with needed supplies.
- Operate heavy equipment (e.g., pushback equipment) and maintain visual contact with Wing Walkers to ensure equipment safety.
- Operate and/or drive motorized equipment (belt loaders, air start units, lift trucks, push back tugs, bag carts, lavatory carts, deicers) or manually push/pull carts and containers.
- Move luggage and cargo, tow planes between gates, and refill water tanks and lavatories.
- Receive and record customer baggage, air freight, mail, and company materials as required; prepare related records.
- Pick up, deliver, and transport cargo and baggage to and from aircraft (which may include wheelchairs, strollers, live animals, and other passenger property).
- Complete paperwork and data entry into the company information system as required.
- Follow company procedures to operate safely and responsibly; participate in required training.
- Be punctual, prepared, and safe; work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Take reasonable care for health, wellbeing, safety, and security of yourself and others.
- Cooperate with management to comply with legal requirements and company policies.
- Avoid misuse of company resources and report hazards or dangerous conditions to management.
- Report hazards, near misses, incidents, or dangerous occurrences and follow applicable safety procedures.
- Work in accordance with training and safety rules; understand AGI Health & Safety and Security policies.
- Attend required training courses.
Ramp Agents must have physical stamina and strength to lift, carry, push, and pull items typically weighing 40–70 pounds (18–32 kg) or more, repeatedly and over extended periods. This includes climbing stairs, walking, bending, kneeling, crawling, and working in cramped or high places, outdoors in varying weather, and around jet and machinery noises. Must be able to communicate with crew and airport authorities via radio and stay alert to moving vehicles and aircraft.
Knowledge,Skills & Abilities
- Good communication skills to relay information effectively with flight crews, gate agents, and ground crews.
- Basic math skills for weight and balance calculations as needed.
- Computer skills to track cargo and baggage.
- Problem-solving and time management skills for fast-paced operations.
- Be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Authorization to work in the United States (if located in the U.S.) or Canada (if located in Canada).
- Must complete ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification/security.
- If required by customer or role access, be able to secure a Customs Seal through the respective agency.
- Preferred:
One or more years of relevant experience.
