Summary: The Assistant Manager, Delivery Operations supports the Senior Manager and Dispatch Manager in the daily execution of Community Servings' meal delivery operations, helping to ensure meals are delivered safely, accurately, and on time while supporting staff supervision, route coordination, fleet readiness, and service quality.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with experience in logistics, dispatch, and transportation operations, and is proficient in fleet management, routing, GPS, and delivery software. This role also trains and coaches staff on the effective use of these systems, serving as a key operational resource to promote efficiency, safety, accountability, and excellent client service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

This position serves as an assistant to frontline operational leaders, supporting the daily delivery of Community Servings' mission through effective coordination of staff, vehicles, technology, and client services.

Delivery Operations
  • Support daily delivery operations to ensure timely and accurate meal distribution.
  • Assist with ensuring drivers have accurate routes, delivery information.
  • Serve as backup support during staffing shortages or emergencies.
Staff Supervision and Training
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training delivery staff.
  • Provide day-to-day support to drivers and dispatch personnel.
  • Reinforce safety, customer service, and operational standards
Fleet and Technology Support
  • Assist with vehicle inspections, maintenance tracking, and fleet readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with safe driving practices and organizational policies.
  • Assist in training on fleet management, GPS, routing, dispatch, and delivery systems.
  • Troubleshoot technology issues and support user adoption of operational systems.
  • Monitor system usage and delivery data accuracy.
Client and Program Support
  • Work closely with Client Services and Program teams to support delivery operations.
  • Assist in resolving delivery-related concerns, client issues, and service exceptions.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with clients, volunteers, and staff.
  • Support service recovery efforts when disruptions occur.
Reporting and Compliance
  • Track and maintain operational data, delivery outcomes, and key performance metrics.
  • Prepare routine reports and assist with performance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable food safety, transportation, confidentiality, and organizational requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and organizational information.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of delivery operations, logistics, dispatching, and route planning.
  • Experience using fleet management, GPS, routing, telematics, or dispatch software.
  • Ability to train and support employees in the use of technology and operational systems.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and fleet safety practices.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to use, and train other staff in, both Apple and Android phone systems, as well as Salesforce CRM.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse staff, volunteers, and clients.
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred) are a plus.
  • Valid Massachusetts Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to successfully pass a CORI/SORI background check.
Education and Experience
  • Associate degree preferred; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in delivery operations, logistics, dispatch, transportation, or fleet operations.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
  • Experience with routing and fleet management technology required.
  • Experience in food distribution, meal delivery, healthcare logistics, or nonprofit operations preferred.
