Accounting Specialist

We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to support a credit union team in Bothell, Washington. This long-term contract opportunity is ideal for someone with strong accounting fundamentals who is comfortable managing detailed reconciliations, resolving exceptions, and maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced financial environment. The role requires sound judgment, clear communication, and the ability to work independently while contributing to broader departmental goals.

Responsibilities:

• Perform frequent account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and clear outstanding items within assigned general ledger accounts.
• Process a range of accounting activities, including wires, payroll-related transactions, direct payments, and daily posting of mailed deposits and loan payments.
• Handle inquiries from members and internal teams by researching issues, correcting payment or dividend transactions, and providing accurate follow-up.
• Support accounts payable and other core accounting operations while helping maintain balanced bank and corporate credit union accounts.
• Contribute to reporting activities, remittances, and special projects requested by accounting leadership.
• Provide guidance to team members by assisting with training, sharing subject matter knowledge, and serving as a resource during day-to-day operations.
• Step in as departmental support when supervisory coverage is needed and assist with cross-functional administrative or accounting tasks.
• Review transaction activity and documentation for accuracy, compliance, and timely completion in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
