Job Title
This position is responsible for enrolling new students, entering and maintaining student course registration, grading data, records and related confidential materials; supports the counseling office of a middle school; provides secretarial and other support services to students, staff, counselors, parents, administrators, intervention and enforcement personnel, and the public; promotes positive public relations for the counseling office, the school, and the district.

Reports to the Principal or designee.
Working ConditionsWorks in an open office environment; frequent interruptions; daily and prolonged exposure to visual display terminal; may be exposed to high noise levels from student activity and visitors; may be exposed to students with infectious diseases; frequently deals with upset parents, students, or staff; may have to sit for prolonged periods of time.
Minimum QualificationsEducation and Experience
High school graduation or equivalent with two or more years of office experience preferably involving computer and record-keeping skills; experience working with adolescents and the public; school district work experience preferred.
Allowable Substitution
Training in computer skills and record-keeping may substitute on a month-to-month basis for up to one year of the required experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, and English usage; keyboarding skills at 50 words per minute; knowledge of general secretarial procedures; ability to operate office equipment; good telephone skills; ability to maintain confidential information and records; ability to organize and set priorities; ability to work independently with minimal supervision; ability to coordinate assignments and deadlines from multiple staff members; ability to read, speak, write, and compute effectively;
ability to exercise independent judgment, remain flexible, and work effectively under pressure; ability to interact with adolescents and parents in a warm, caring, and confident manner; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public.
Salary is based upon the current 2025-26 NEOPA Salary Schedule Salary (Level G); placement on the salary schedule will be determined by Human Resources DOE. FLSA Non-Exempt. Steps 10, 12, and 15 are longevity steps.
Work Year239 days per year, 8.0 hours per day
