Certificated Substitute Teacher
This position creates and maintains a safe, positive learning environment working as a certificated substitute teacher in the Northshore School District. A certificated substitute teacher must hold a current Washington State teaching or substitute certificate, which gives the individual the ability to substitute in classrooms K-12.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary in consultation with the employee(s) involved.
Reports to the Building Administrator.
Salary2026-27 Substitute Pay Rates are pending; 2025-26 Substitute Pay Rates Substitutes hired for twenty (20) consecutive days or longer will be placed on a non-continuing contract and paid according to their placement on the Teachers' Salary Schedule.
Minimum QualificationsEducation and Experience
Bachelor's degree required.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of developmental needs of students within assigned age range; knowledge of subject matter content and pedagogy; demonstrates organizational skills; skill in conflict resolution; ability to follow written directions; ability to communicate effectively with students and adults; ability to maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders; ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing; ability to adapt to changes quickly;
ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to effectively use classroom technology; ability to learn new policies and procedures quickly.
A valid Washington State Teaching Certificate

BenefitsSubstitutes become benefit eligible after subbing for 630 hours during the school year. Your coverage would go from the first of the month after reaching the 630 hours though 8/31. After reaching 630 hours for two school years in a row, your coverage would be continuous for the following school year.
