Bothell's Police Department is hiring a Community Engagement Coordinator / Public Information Officer to lead the creation and delivery of public communications, including news releases, social media, videos, PSAs, and campaigns. This role manages the department's online presence, supports the City's Communications Team, and builds media relationships.
Schedule: Option to be on a 5/8 or 4/10 schedule; on-call required.
Working Conditions: This position will work in office with intermittent ability to work remotely as needed.

This investigation includes completing a Personal History Statement (PHS) and a polygraph examination. It may involve interviews with personal and professional references, a review of the applicant's online and social media presence, and verification of employment, education, and character.

- Fingerprinting
- Driving record and Department of Licensing checks
- Military records (if applicable)

- Verification of education and prior employment

What will you do in this position?
- Provide crisis communication support as needed: This position requires being on-call outside of normal work hours and may involve extended shifts, weekends, and holidays during emergencies or critical incidents.
- Develop and manage public communications: Plan, design, and implement communications and public information programs, including news releases, social media messaging, videos, PSAs, and outreach campaigns.
- Create multimedia and marketing content: Produce content for various platforms (internet, TV, radio) to support crime prevention, public safety, and community engagement initiatives.
- Lead social media strategy: Recommend and manage the Police Department's ongoing social media approach to ensure timely, accurate, and engaging public messaging.
- Maintain Police Department website content: Serve as the primary content manager for the Police Department's webpages; ensure content remains current and informative.
- Collaborate with the City Communications Team: Coordinate closely with the City's Communications Team to align messaging and maintain consistent public information across departments.
- Build relationships with media outlets: Establish and maintain professional connections with local traditional and non-traditional media to enhance public outreach and media coverage.
- Learn and adapt to new tools and systems with ease to support work efficiency.
- Consistently deliver accurate, high-quality work with attention to detail.
- Communicate clearly, respectfully, and professionally across a variety of settings.

- Build and maintain collaborative relationships across departments and disciplines.
