Food Safety Technician

Location:

Bothell, WA

Pay Rate: $25.50 – $30.00 / hour

Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Assignment Duration: 4 Months

Position Overview

The Food Safety Technician is responsible for preparing and testing batch juice concentrate samples to ensure product consistency, quality, and safety attributes are met. Working primarily in an FDA-regulated laboratory environment, this position performs routine chemical and physical property testing, maintains in-house microbiological testing protocols, and supports raw material organization and data entry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sample Testing & Analysis:
    Perform routine chemical testing on custom juice concentrate blends (pH, brix, acidity, flavor profile evaluation). Conduct microbiological testing as applicable based on experience.
  • Quality Assurance:
    Ensure batch samples meet established safety, consistency, and client specifications.
  • Data Management:
    Accurately log test results, specifications, and formulas in Microsoft Excel and specialized software.
  • Communication &

    Collaboration:

    Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, management, and co-manufacturing facilities.
  • Compliance:
    Maintain strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FDA regulations, and workplace safety standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education:

    Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related scientific discipline highly preferred.
  • Experience:

    Minimum 1–2 years of laboratory experience in food science/manufacturing, or equivalent lab internship experience.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word); familiarity with lab and pilot testing equipment. Knowledge of HACCP and GFSI standards is preferred.
  • Key Attributes:
    Strong mathematical/scientific calculation abilities, high attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Screening:
    Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be open to random drug screenings per FDA plant standards.
