Duties and Responsibilities- Safely maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, and tests power plant steam/combustion turbines, synchronous condenser, and battery energy storage system (BESS) mechanical systems/equipment, including Balance of Plant (BOP) support systems/equipment, in accordance with applicable site and regulatory compliance procedures and requirements.
- Implements plant improvements and modifications.
- Operates forklifts, aerial lifts, skid steers, hoists, mobile/gantry/bridge cranes, and other lifting apparatuses, as needed.
- Performs non-code welding and utilizes machine shop equipment.
- Performs safety and equipment inspections, and environmental inspections as assigned by work order.
- Reports issues/abnormal conditions to supervision/management and recommends corrective action.
- Performs necessary rigging in connection with assigned duties.
- Reads and interprets mechanical drawings and schematics to identify and troubleshoot problems and performs job preparation for maintenance and repairs.
- Safely handles and disposes of hazardous materials and waste generated by work in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- May provide peer-to-peer knowledge transfer related to Mechanic maintenance tasks.
- Performs administrative duties and uses computer technology and work management systems to access work orders and input maintenance activities.
- Identifies parts needed for maintenance activities.
- Reviews and assists in developing policies and procedures.
- Oversees and inspects contractor work for quality, safety, and completion.
- Assists other plant personnel as needed.
- Performs housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean, safe work environment.
- Performs vehicle maintenance.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.

- 2nd Year: $59.86
- 4th Year: $64.05
- 6th Year (Senior): $70.95
Qualifications:
- Must have the ability to absorb formal training and schooling.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Must be able to safely use, handle, inspect, and perform maintenance near sources of equipment containing hazardous energy, hazardous chemicals, and hazardous wastes as those terms are defined under various safety and environmental regulations.
- Must be able to select and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Must be able to wear a respirator.
- Must be able to frequently enter confined spaces; climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders, walkways and man-lifts at elevations up to 100 feet or more; crawl through confined areas; correctly wear and work using half-mask respirator; lift a minimum of 20lbs in awkward positions and 50lbs from the floor to the waist; and work in adverse weather.
- Must successfully complete forklift training.
- Must have the ability to complete NCCCO crane operator certification and maintain a valid operating license.
- Journeyman millwright or a minimum of five years' experience in mechanical maintenance work involving mechanical repair and installation in a generation facility or similar field.
- Must have basic math skills.
- Must have demonstrated ability to effectively communicate.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Must be proficient using appropriate process testing instruments, power tools, and basic hand tools.
- The role requires frequent movement, including walking, bending, lifting, and reaching. Must be able to move effectively and efficiently within the workspace and related areas.
- Will be required to work overtime, which includes extended days, callouts for emergency work, weekend work, and holiday work.
This is a Union Represented position - Represented by Local IBEW 465.
