Salary Range: $57.50 To $72.55 Hourly

Under the supervision and direction of the Boulder City Primary Care Medical Officer and the Primary Clinic ED Nursing Director, the Boulder City Primary Care’s Nurse Practitioner will interview and examine patients to determine a diagnosis. They order tests to determine the nature and extent of illnesses and injuries. They prescribe medications and suggest lifestyle changes to remedy medical problems for both short-term and long-range patient care issues.

The Nurse Practitioner will serve as a resource for staff and students on issues and strategies in the management of patients and is expected to participate on Primary Care Clinic and affiliated facility committees and in educational offerings. Establishes and maintains policies, procedures and protocols applicable to the Boulder City Primary Care Clinic.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Must be able to work under sustained pressure and during stressful situations. This role will ensure standard care development, staff development and oversight of Rural Health Care continuum of care for patients treated in the clinic. This role is required to give direct patient care, such assessing, examination and forming a treatment plan of care for each patient. Must be able to stand or walk for 12-hours.

Must be able to lift and move patients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • 1.Contributes to physician's effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing physician directives.
  • 2.Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.
  • 3.Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies; interpreting test results.
  • 4.Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • 5.Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing; managing wounds and infections.
  • 6.Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information; discussing family planning; providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living; promoting wellness and health maintenance.
  • 7.Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.
  • 8.Arranges for, or refers patients to, needed services that cannot be provided at the clinic
  • 9.Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • 10.Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • 11.Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • 12.Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • 13.Develops health care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities.
  • 14.Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • 15.Must be a provider in good standing and maintain hospital established credential requirements.
  • 16.Participates in the development, execution and periodic review of the written policies governing the services the clinic furnishes.
