Overview
The purpose of this position is to act in referee capacity for youth sports leagues, as well as provide supervision and security of Parks and Recreation facilities. This description indicates the essential functions and levels of work difficulty of the position and is not intended to describe in detail all duties. Management reserves the right to assign, direct, and control the work of employees beyond the essential functions under supervision.
Responsibilities- Oversees and facilitates special event activities in Parks and Recreation facilities, including setup and takedown of equipment.
- Assists with interviews for hiring and training sports staff in field preparation for adult and youth sports.
- Supervises adult programs and activities as well as some special events.
- Assists in supervising and setting up/preparing for adult sports leagues.
- Acts in referee capacity in all youth sports leagues.
- Performs related tasks and assists in duties of recreation supervisor, assistant recreation coordinator, and recreation coordinator.
- Operates coaching responsibilities in youth sports leagues.
- Organizes and sets up/takes down sports department equipment for adult and youth leagues.
- Maintains and cleans equipment; assists with equipment inventory and facility safety checks.
- Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age at time of hire; equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or border state driver’s license, as defined by NRS 483.
- Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check and a wants/warrants check.
- Knowledge of outdoor and indoor facilities and equipment; knowledge of multiple sports rules.
- Skill in using personal computers and telephones.
- Ability to manage personnel for special events; represent the City by communicating with the public, staff, and facility users; provide crowd control in special event situations; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; explain policies and procedures; establish and maintain effective working relationships; accurately enter data and proofread materials; read, understand, interpret, and apply policies and procedures; follow written and verbal instructions.

Physical Requirements:
Medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds unassisted. - Mental

Activities:
Some moderate physical activity is required such as lifting and moving sports equipment; responsible for maintaining, dragging, raking, and garbage removal at facilities. - Visual Acuity: Close visual acuity needed for data preparation, transcription, computer use, reading, inspection, measurements, and assembly of parts at close distances.
- Working Conditions: Work is in both indoor and outdoor environments; outdoor work may be in hot conditions.
