Undergraduate Evaluator
The Domestic Admissions/Operations department at CU Boulder welcomes applications for the Undergraduate Evaluator position! This role independently evaluates and interprets domestic applications and supporting credentials for admission to the university following established University of Colorado Boulder guidelines, rules, and regulations; examines and classifies student residency for tuition classification; serves as a resource authority for application process inquiries from other departments; resolves individual student problems/complaints and implements a plan for solution.
The position carries out crucial supplementary processes that are time-sensitive and often cyclical in nature. For the first year, this position fully participates in training to master the requisite skills of a domestic Undergraduate Evaluator by taking a hands-on approach to working with admissions databases under the mentorship of admissions trainers. Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Evaluates the source documents (admission applications and supporting credentials) used in the University's admission application process, for completeness and consistency; codes and enters the data/information to the student information system; verifies and corrects data errors and inconsistencies.
- Reviews transcripts, test scores and other documents to assure that the document is official as well as complete for purposes of admission to CU Boulder; determines and calculates grade point averages (GPAs); determines appropriate coding of admit types and application class; generates letters to inform applicants about missing and/or additional requirements needed prior to an admissions decision.
- Transcripts reflect various GPA scales (weighted/non-weighted), and this position will convert grades to a common scale to facilitate consistency for parity in admission decisions. This position will educate applicants and, when appropriate, their parents or guardians when unusual situations with an applicant arise. The position will refer to edit lists, evaluator manuals, tuition classification guidelines and other staff or supervisor to identify and resolve inconsistencies and/or errors.
- Using specific campus rules and standards, the position reviews high school transcripts to ensure course completion and appropriate content; converts and enters records and transactions reflecting completion to the University's student information system.
- Each applicant provides an official high school transcript, and this position determines that courses have been completed to meet specific admission guidelines. Conversions to a common GPA are made when entering information to provide consistency and parity for all applicants. Reference to admissions guidelines for specific high school exceptions, grade point averages, and practices will help provide consistent evaluation of these documents.
