Odyssey Space Research is a leader in human-rated flight software, simulation and Guidance Navigation and Control products and services, primarily serving civil space and commercial mission sets. As we expand into the Department of War (DoW) and United States Space Force (USSF)-related markets, we seek a dynamic Business Development Lead to spearhead our growth in these areas.
Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Business Development Lead with a strong background in space and satellite systems. This is a Vice President level position, with an opportunity to advance to Chief Growth Officer. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in strategic and hands‑on business development or equivalent, preferably with recent experience in or with the USSF, and a deep understanding of the aerospace and defense industry.
Above all, the successful candidate is expected to immerse themselves in the market to engage with potential customers.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to expand our services into the DoW and USSF markets.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within the DoW, USSF, and associated industry partners.
- Identify new opportunities and guide customer engagement and proposal efforts to secure new contracts.
- Communicate technical and strategic value propositions effectively to diverse audiences.
- Represent the company at conferences and other events.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align offerings with market needs and competitive trends.
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Extensive experience in the space industry, particularly with satellite systems.
- Recent experience with or within the USSF, including knowledge of procurement and contracting processes.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to create, adapt and/or apply AI tools and approaches to augment productivity.
- Ability to travel as required to meet business objectives.
- Top Secret clearance required, SCI eligibility preferred.
- Recently retired or separated personnel from the USSF, or
- Recent experience within an industry partner’s business development team
- Strong network within the DoW community;
Government, industry or both. - Experience in developing and leading successful contract acquisition strategies.
