Senior Field Manager – Lead and coordinate all field operations campaigns as we scale our climate‑protective programs. Oversee international and domestic logistics, regulatory coordination, equipment management, and field instrumentation. Serve as the primary interface among ground teams, local agencies, consultants, and internal leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and execute field operations campaigns end‑to‑end, including meteorological station deployment, ground‑truth instrumentation events, and data hand‑off to the modeling team.
- Monitor and maintain monitoring networks to ensure continuous data flow for modeling and analysis.
- Own all in‑domain logistics: regulatory permits, multi‑agency coordination, import/export compliance, and local vendor relationships.
- Manage equipment packing, shipping logistics, and field inventory tracking across campaigns.
- Coordinate field consultants and contractors, acting as the primary operational lead on the ground.
- Interact professionally with local regulatory authorities and external stakeholders in dynamic, high‑stakes environments.
- Translate campaign learnings into documented operational frameworks and standard practices.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in earth sciences, atmospheric science, oceanography, environmental engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may substitute.
- 3–8+ years of experience in field operations, scientific campaigns, or operational logistics in remote or international settings.
- Demonstrated experience managing international logistics, including permits, customs, and local agency coordination.
- Hands‑on experience with field instrumentation such as meteorological sensors, radiosondes, or similar atmospheric measurement systems.
- Strong customer‑facing and stakeholder management skills; ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Experience coordinating with aviation authorities or pilots on aerial field operations is a strong plus; familiarity with UAV operations is a plus.
- Autonomous work style in a fast‑moving startup environment, managing multiple work streams and making sound decisions with limited oversight.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills: generate clear field reports, SOPs, and post‑campaign summaries for internal leadership.
- Multi‑language proficiency is a significant plus.
- Passion for working in extreme or remote environments and commitment to building operational infrastructure for cutting‑edge innovation.
Location: Boulder, CO – Field‑Based with significant domestic and international travel required.
Benefits & CompensationThe salary range for this role is $90,000 – $140,000, dependent on qualifications and experience. Flagship Pioneering offers healthcare coverage, an annual incentive program, retirement benefits, and a broad range of other benefits.
