Job Summary The University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for the Senior Data Analyst and Business Analyst position! This role serves as a key strategic resource within the College of Arts and Sciences Budget Office, providing advanced data analysis, business process improvement, and systems support for the College's four academic divisions and more than 60 departments, programs, and centers. This position leverages financial, payroll, human resources, and operational data to support informed decision-making, enhance business processes, and ensure the integrity of college-wide reporting and analytics.

The position is responsible for developing and maintaining complex reports and dashboards, analyzing payroll and personnel data, supporting position and funding management, leading the College's annual merit allocation process, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial and human resources data. Working collaboratively with College leadership, departmental business professionals, campus partners, and information technology teams, the position identifies business needs, develops functional requirements for system enhancements, and implements technology solutions that improve operational efficiency and reporting capabilities.

As the College's subject matter expert for payroll reporting, business analytics, and related financial and human resources systems, this position provides training, develops best practices and documentation, supports system implementations, and serves as a liaison between the College and campus partners. The position also develops ad hoc analyses and executive-level reports to support strategic planning, workforce planning, budget management, and institutional decision-making while promoting data integrity, compliance, and continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities Will BePayroll Reporting and Data Analysis
  • Maintain the integrity, accuracy, confidentiality, and security of payroll and personnel data across multiple systems and reporting platforms.
  • Analyze payroll funding, salary distributions, position funding changes, and labor allocations to ensure compliance with university, state, federal, and sponsor requirements.
  • Calculate and process permanent and temporary payroll funding adjustments, earnings changes, retroactive corrections, and labor redistributions.
  • Monitor payroll transactions and conduct regular audits to identify discrepancies, errors, and compliance concerns, recommending corrective actions as needed.
