Position Summary

The Construction Manager leads all construction activities occurring outside the BoulderMOD factory, including site development, foundations, modular home delivery and installation, field completion, inspections, certificates of occupancy, warranty work, and home repairs. Working closely with the BoulderMOD team, this position coordinates factory production with site readiness, installation, and field completion across multiple concurrent projects.

This is a hands‑on field leadership role. The Construction Manager personally directs construction activities and, when necessary, performs critical field work while recruiting, training, scheduling, and supervising volunteers and managing subcontractors and project partners. The position is accountable for safety, quality, schedule, cost control, site conditions, volunteer productivity, subcontractor performance, and homeowner communication.

The Construction Manager also develops and maintains practical systems for scheduling and documenting field production; organizing, tracking, securing, and maintaining tools, materials, equipment, vehicles, and other assets; and ensuring jobsites are safe, orderly, secure, and prepared for upcoming work. Through clear instruction, respectful leadership, and meaningful work opportunities, the Construction Manager creates a volunteer culture in which people of varying skill levels feel valued, supported, and excited to contribute.

Key Responsibilities Construction Management
  • Direct all construction activities at Flatirons Habitat project sites.
  • Manage site preparation, foundations, utilities, modular home delivery and setting, exterior and interior completion, landscaping, inspections, punch lists, and project closeout.
  • Coordinate closely with BoulderMOD leadership to ensure homes are properly sequenced, transported, installed, completed, and inspected.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, scopes of work, material plans, budgets, and inspection timelines.
  • Identify and resolve field conditions affecting safety, quality, cost, schedule, or homeowner occupancy.
  • Ensure sites are properly prepared, staffed, equipped, supplied, and secured.
  • Document and implement stormwater management strategies on all active construction sites.
  • Develop skilled volunteer crew leaders who can assist with construction, warranty, and repair activities.
  • Break construction work into safe, clearly defined tasks appropriate for volunteers with varying skill levels.
  • Provide safety orientation, tool training, task instruction, and ongoing coaching.
  • Maintain clear standards for attendance, conduct, safety, quality, and homeowner interaction.
  • Determine which work may be completed by volunteers and which requires licensed or professional contractors.
Warranty and Home Repair
  • Manage all warranty obligations associated with homes built or rehabilitated by Flatirons Habitat.
  • Establish systems for receiving, prioritizing, tracking, completing, and documenting warranty requests.
  • Coordinate warranty work with homeowners, volunteers, subcontractors, manufacturers, and suppliers.
  • Identify recurring defects and recommend improvements to factory production, field construction, materials, and subcontractor performance.
  • Develop and operate a home repair program serving qualified homeowners in Boulder and Broomfield Counties.
