Job Summary

The Office of Events and MCIC is seeking a dedicated and service‑oriented Events Assistant to join our team. This role will assist guests during special events, provide project logistics, tech support, and ensure smooth and efficient operations. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.

This is a temporary role designed to support MCIC’s delivery of the Oceanic Maroons States and Nations Beyond Place Festival Feb 26‑Mar 1 and the weeks prior to the festival. The role is budgeted to work a total of 60 hours which includes no more than 20 hours per week from Sunday‑Saturday.

In addition, we manage multiple event spaces, including the Performing Arts Center on the Arapahoe campus and the Nalanda Events Center on the Nalanda campus. At times we may request your assistance with Front of House responsibilities during events. You may take tickets, provide support for guests, presenters, and stage managers with a spirit of sacred hospitality and willingness to serve our community.

May include set‑up or break down, audio/visual, house management, box office, as well as other behind‑the‑scenes operations including food set up and hosting as well as setting up art supplies and materials in support of events.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with event coordinators to support special events. May include set up and take down of risers, chairs, tables, rugs, and other performance related gear.
  • Assist in setting up and dismantling event-related equipment and signage.
  • Provide directions and information to guests regarding event logistics.
  • Support guests with various requests.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and represent Naropa positively during events.
  • Other duties as assigned by MCIC/Events Staff.
  • On the job training may occur in the following roles/areas:
    House Manager, Box Office Assistant, Maintenance, A/V.
Minimum Requirements
  • Student must be awarded federal work‑study hours by the Financial Aid office in order to fill this position.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and assertive communication skills.
  • Ability to create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.
  • Ability to do some light to heavy lifting.
  • Willingness to help with housekeeping duties as required.
  • Self‑motivated, reliable, energetic and detail oriented.
  • Punctuality, dependability, ingenuity, teamwork, and honesty.
  • Ability to work as scheduled; must be available evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to receive and respond to emails in a timely manner.
  • Ability to demonstrate respectful and creative demeanor in the presence of artists, musicians, poets, and other VIPs.
  • A good attitude and a sense of humor.
  • Must be willing and able to wear appropriate clothing (all black, including Naropa Crew T‑Shirt).

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions

During regular daily activities, employee must be able to do the following with or without reasonable accommodation: lift up to 25 lbs, stand, walk, sit, handle/finger, bend at the waist, reach above shoulder level, kneel, crouch and crawl.
