Responsibilities
- Teach beginner to advanced sewing and garment construction techniques
- Instruct students in apparel sewing, pattern making and alterations, fabric selection and textile knowledge, garment fitting and finishing, machine operation, and sewing safety
- Demonstrate proper use of industrial and domestic sewing machines and tools
- Create lesson plans, class projects, and instructional materials
- Guide students through the complete garment production process from concept to finished piece
- Provide individualized feedback and support to students
- Maintain classroom organization, sewing equipment, and supplies
- Foster a creative, inclusive, and professional learning environment
- Proven experience in garment design, apparel sewing, and pattern making
- Strong knowledge of garment construction and sewing techniques
- Ability to teach students of different skill levels, learning styles and ages
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience using industrial and domestic sewing equipment
- Draping and advanced construction techniques
- Fashion illustration or design software knowledge
- Alterations and tailoring experience
- Curriculum development experience
- Ability to manage classroom projects and timelines
Demonstrates expertise in garment design, apparel sewing, and pattern making, with a strong ability to teach diverse students through effective communication and individualized support. Proficient in curriculum development and classroom management to foster a creative and inclusive learning environment.
