Overview

The Universal Relationship Officer is the Customer Ambassador for the financial institution, providing quality and efficiency to customers through digital and electronic interfaces. The role includes conducting teller and cash vault transactions accurately and timely, selling and servicing all bank products and services, and collaborating with operations and sales teams to achieve deposit growth, business relationship growth, and consumer relationship growth.
The incumbent maintains current knowledge of competitor products, services, and promotions while delivering operational support and exceptional customer service with essential controls and safeguards.
- Receives checks and cash for deposit to savings and checking accounts, verifies deposit amounts, examines checks for endorsement and negotiability, and posts transactions into bank records via an online terminal. Cashes checks and pays money from savings and checking accounts upon verification of signatures and account balances.
- Leads new account and business account opening processes, including lending applications, and promotes solutions to support member needs through branch lobby interactions, outbound calling, and referrals from credit union partners. Establishes advisory relationships and generates proactive appointments to engage prospective members inside and outside the credit union.
- Prepares and compiles new member application information to open new accounts, ensuring signature cards are complete.
- Troubleshoots and resolves member and internal inquiries promptly and professionally. Informs members of status or enhancements to current account productivity and suggests resolutions for account disputes and other activities.
- Answers and routes telephone calls, takes messages, provides information, and directs calls to appropriate staff.
- Complies with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
A minimum of one to three years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience, is required. The candidate should have proficient knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and advanced keyboarding and ten-key skills.
Education / Certifications / LicensesA two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school (approximately 64 credit hours) is required.
Interpersonal SkillsIntegral trust, credibility, and diplomacy are required. The role involves in-depth dialogue and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports, and vendors, often managing sensitive or highly confidential matters. Communication may include motivating, influencing, educating, and advising others on significant issues.
Full Time PositionStarting Range: $27.97 - $31.34
Full Range: $26.96 - $40.44

ADA RequirementsPhysical Requirements
Must be able to bend, sit, and stand, perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion, and occasionally lift up to 10 lbs. Capable of climbing/descending stairs in an emergency, and operating routine office equipment. Requires routine computer use for 6–8 hours/day. Ability to work extended hours or travel as required. Requires reliable attendance.
Working ConditionsWork indoors in a climate-controlled shared area with minimal noise.
Mental and/or Emotional RequirementsMust perform duties independently or with limited supervision, follow written and oral instructions, complete basic math and spelling, and use computer basics. Must communicate clearly and handle multiple priorities under deadline pressure. Must remain professional and discreet with diverse personalities at various organizational levels.
